Benue residents decry environmental degradation caused by Dangote Cement plant
The Mbayion district in Gboko, Benue State, home to the Dangote Cement Plant, has raised concerns about the company’s environmental impact.
A committee, led by Terna Abeda, was formed to investigate the effects of the plant’s operations on the local environment.
After consulting with community leaders, youths, and residents, the committee found significant neglect and disappointment with the company’s corporate social responsibility efforts.
Abeda added that the host community has records of the interventions and investments at Ibese and Obajana, which he said, the Gboko plant falls far short of.
