The Bishop of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN), Rev. Nelson Malau, on Tuesday, urged the Federal Government to sustain the current economic policies that have led to reduction in petrol and food prices across the country.
Malau, in a media interaction on the sidelines of LCCN’s Annual National Convention and consecration of 36 pastors in Numan Local Government Area (LGA), Adamawa State, commended the government over its efforts at improving security nationwide and encouraged continued action until criminal activities were eradicated.
He acknowledged the hardship Nigerians were facing due to economic policies and praised the government for responding to citizens’ concerns.
“Nigerians are going through a lot of untold hardships largely because of the economic policies of the Federal Government.
“However, we want to appreciate the Federal Government for listening to the yearnings and cries of the citizens, and today, things are beginning to get better.
Malau, however, appealed to President Bola Tinubu’s administration to prioritise healthcare development and address the country’s persistent electricity challenges.
The Bishop further appreciated Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri’s developmental strides and efforts in fostering peaceful coexistence among religious groups in the state.
He celebrated the recent release of two kidnapped reverend fathers in Numan and called on Nigerians to pray for their leaders while contributing meaningfully towards national development.
The LCCN Annual National Convention closing ceremony, held on Sunday with the theme: ”Unity in Christ Jesus”(1 Corinthians 1:10).
Governor Fintiri had, at the occasion, highlighted the importance of Christians in nation-building.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta, the governor urged parents and guardians to take advantage of the state’s free primary education policy and ensure that no child was left out of school.
Similarly, Dr Akolo Luka of the Evangelical Reform Church of Christ, Kaduna, emphasised the importance of unity among families, society, and the Church.
Luka appealed for true repentance and forgiveness by Christians for peaceful coexistence.
