Kogi Commissioner of Police Ali Janga has been removed following the escape of six suspects from custody early this morning.
Inspector-General of Police Ibrahim Idris gave the removal order, and re-deployed the commander of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad in the state, the Divisional Police Officer ‘A’ Division, Lokoja and other police officers implicated in the escape for negligence, dereliction of duty and gross misconduct.
In a statement by the police spokesman Jimoh Moshood, the IGP explained that the policemen are all facing serious disciplinary action.
The escapees are suspects in conspiracy case involving Kogi West Senator Dino Melaye.
The senator has insisted the police, in harassing him, might killed the suspects or planned their escape.
