Buhari cripples cabal in Presidency
- Assures Osinbajo of full executive powers
President Muhammadu Buhari has intervened to douse tension in the Presidency over who controls the federal government in his absence. The President has given firm directive to Acting President Yemi Osinbajo on his mandate to exercise full executive powers in his absence.
National Daily gathered that in the brief meeting the Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, held with President Buhari in London on Tuesday, the President affirmed the powers delegated to him; mandating Osinbajo to exercise his executive powers as acting President fully, assuring the acting president of his unflinching support at all times.
The meeting was convened at the instance of the ailing president hours after the wife, Aisha Buhari, had vowed that the hyenas and the jackals will soon be sent out of the kingdom.

The actions followed perennial complaints by notable state and political actors about a cabal in the Presidency dictating the pace of governance in the absence of the ailing president. The insinuated stronghold to power by the said cabal has been identified to be responsible for the uncordial relations between the executive and the legislature over issues of governance and powers of the different arms of government.
The Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Acting President, Laolu Akande, had disclosed on Tuesday that Acting President Osinbajo traveled to the United Kingdom to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari.
He further indicated that the Acting President was expected back to Nigeria immediately after the meeting with President Buhari in London.
President Buhari commenced medical vacation in the UK on Sunday, May 7, 2017.
