Building collapses, five wounded
A one-storey building collapsed in Asaba, Delta State, South-South Nigeria on Thursday injuring five persons.
The collapsed building has a supermarket and other business offices. The injured persons were said to have been taken to the hospital for treatment.
Search and rescue operations were to save the lives of those trapped in the debris. The collapsed building was said to be located directly opposite the popular Emeka Ofor Plaza, near St. Patrick College.
The Secretary to the State Government, Patrick Ukah, visiting the scene of the accident to access the level of destruction, said that the injured persons are already receiving treatment at a nearby hospital. He, called for calm, saying that investigation has commended to ascertain the cause of the collapse of the building.
