BWF Championships🏸: Marin beats Sindhu to claim title
Like in the Rio Olympics final, Carolina Marin got the better of PV Sindhu once again and claimed BWF World Championships at Nanjing, China. The 7th seed beat the 3rd seed 21-19, 21-10,National Daily gathered.
Sindhu had the early lead in the first game but the Spaniard clawed back to level the scores. At 18-18, Marin seized the lead and held on to take the first game.
The 2nd game was a one-sided affair with the southpaw Marin starting brightly. She raced to a 7-point lead and Sindhu couldn’t catch up. At the end of the 44-minute battle, Marin won the game with a healthy margin.
This is India’s 8th medal at the World Championship – 3 Silver and 5 Bronze.
Earlier, in the women’s doubles final, Japan’s Matsumoto – Wakana Nagahara beat compatriots Yuki Fukushima – Sayaka Hirota 19-12, 21-19, 22-20 to take the doubles crown.
