Champions League R16: Man. City soaraway with 5-0 victory against Sporting Lisbon
Manchester City on Tuesday had a soar away victory in their first leg game of the Champions League Round of 16 (R16) against Sporting Lisbon. The English team soar so high that they are at confidence level into the quarter final of the competition even before the second leg is played in England in a fortnight time. Sporting Lisbon were beaten mercilessly 5-0 at home, at the Jose Alvalade Stadium, in front of their supporters.
Riyad Mahrez fired City into the lead, while Silva consolidated the lead with a second goal; Phil Foden added a third goal before the 32nd minute of the first half. Silva scored again in the 44th minute, while Raheem Sterling compounded Sporting Lisbon helplessness with the fifth goal in the 58th minute.
The second leg comes up in Manchester, England, on March 9.
