Champions League: Senderos backs Real Madrid to overturn Arsenal deficit at Bernabeu
Former Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos has tipped Real Madrid to stage a dramatic comeback against Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-final second leg clash on Wednesday night at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Madrid faces a daunting task after suffering a 3-0 defeat to the Gunners in the first leg at the Emirates Stadium last week.
But despite the odds, Senderos believes Carlo Ancelotti’s side still have what it takes to turn the tie around, especially with the support of their home fans.
Speaking to Spanish outlet AS, the Swiss international highlighted the pedigree of the 14-time European champions and their ability to produce big moments on the grandest stage.
“Madrid is a great team, brimming with champions and an incomparable history. The result is very unfavorable, but I think they can do a lot of damage if they are successful,” Senderos said.

He stressed that the home atmosphere at the Bernabéu could play a pivotal role in shifting momentum.
“Maybe, but with Madrid’s stars, anything is possible. They have impressive quality, and if we know one thing, it’s that in their stadium and with their fans, they won’t give up as long as there is a chance to move forward,” he added.
“The fans will push them, and a first goal can change the situation. They can do it.”
The Spanish giants are known for their history of stunning European comebacks, and Senderos warned that Arsenal must remain vigilant against a Madrid side with elite experience and firepower.
The second leg promises to be an intense showdown as Arsenal look to seal their place in the semi-finals, while Real Madrid aim to deliver another memorable Champions League night at home.
