Community leaders encourage grassroots football development in Delta
Community leaders in Delta State have been urged to be champions of grassroots football talent discovery by encouraging youths in their immediate environment to take to the round leather game at an early age, National Daily learnt.
This was contained in remarks made by the Chief Consultant to the 2019 Bet9ja Royal Cup, Eddie Iseri Ogbemudia of Myron Topclass Sports Outfits, during a media campaign tour of some selected radio stations in Asaba.
Ogbemudia told National Daily that the Royal Cup tourney has come a long way through thin and thick, adding that the organizers intend to use the 2019 edition to comb the nooks and crannies of the state for the finest football talents within marketable age bracket.
He said the grassroot in Delta State, if given adequate and genuine attention by all stakeholders, has a lot to offer national football development in Nigeria.
In another development, more Local Coordinators have been appointed to meet the growing numbers of teams desirous of registering for the 2019 Bet9ja Royal Cup.
The under-listed coaches will oversee the registration process in the following assigned Local Government Areas of the state:
1. Sapele Coach Newman of Igho FC.
2. Bomadi Anthony Ebibo
3. Uvwie Coach Emeka, AKA “Coach I love You”
4. Aniocha South Coach Emeka
5. Isoko North Coach Andrew Royal Eagles
6. Oshimili North Coach Emeka
7. Oshimili South Coach Ifeanyi
8. Warri North Coach Muller
9. Isoko South Coach Justice
Registration for the grassroot soccer showpiece is ongoing at the moment and any interested team can get their registration form at the nearest Bet9ja agent’s shop in Delta State, and thereafter, make payment into its Zenith Bank account, with account number: 1016470678 and account name: Bet9ja Agents MPCS.
The 2019 Bet9ja Royal Cup will formally begin on September 14, 2019, with qualifying matches across Delta State.
