Cristiano Ronaldo’s Old Trafford return: See why United fans are disappointed
The great news for the Red Devils fans is that Cristiano Ronaldo is back at Manchester United after he rejoined from Juventus on Friday.
But with the 36-year-old’s recent return to Old Trafford after his international duty and self-isolation, Ronaldo has little time to prepare for Saturday’s clash with Newcastle United to the disappointment of United fans who have been anxious to witness the second debut of their legend.
After playing for Portugal, and scoring twice, in the 2-1 win over Republic of Ireland on 1 September, the former Juventus forward later returned to the UK, but faced five days of isolation at home in Cheshire due to Covid protocols.
The above latest development has left Ronaldo with just one day to train with his new teammates ahead of the weekend, which is unlikely to be enough for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to throw him into the starting line-up.
National Daily learnt from the report by The Sun that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner will be left on the bench for the 3pm kick-off, although he will likely still make his second debut for the Premier League giants in the match, with the temptation to bring him on almost certainly too much to turn down for Solskjaer in front of a baying Old Trafford crowd
Meanwhile, if Ronaldo ends up in the bench as it likely appears, it will therefore mean that the Red Devils fans could probably behold his first start in a Manchester United shirt for the club after his return could be against Young Boys in Bern, Switzerland in the Champions League next Tuesday (14 September).
There is however no doubt that the fans favourite, Ronaldo will be keen to start against the Magpies and will certainly be fit enough to do so as the legendary forward is never out of shape and scored twice for his country just last week.
