Dame Virgy Etiaba congratulates NBA President-elect Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, celebrates Peter Obi at 65

Former Anambra State Governor, Dame Virgy Etiaba, CON, has congratulated Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, on her election as President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), describing her emergence as a landmark achievement for the legal profession and a significant milestone in the advancement of women into strategic leadership positions in Nigeria.

In a congratulatory message, Etiaba said Badejo-Okusanya’s election reflects her distinguished legal career, unwavering commitment to the rule of law, and the confidence reposed in her by thousands of legal practitioners across the country.

According to the former governor, the election reaffirms that excellence, competence, integrity and dedicated service remain the defining qualities of effective leadership.

She noted that the Nigerian Bar Association has remained one of the strongest pillars of Nigeria’s democracy, consistently promoting constitutionalism, judicial independence, the rule of law and the protection of fundamental human rights.

Etiaba said the new NBA president assumes office at a critical period in Nigeria’s democratic journey, adding that expectations from both members of the legal profession and the wider public would be high.

“As a distinguished Senior Advocate of Nigeria, her professional accomplishments have earned the respect of colleagues and the legal community. Her election is therefore not only a personal achievement but also an inspiration to countless young lawyers, especially women, who now see in her success a powerful reminder that dedication, perseverance and excellence will always find their rightful reward,” she stated.

She wished Badejo-Okusanya a successful and impactful tenure, while expressing optimism that Nigeria would soon witness the election of a female governor in one of its states.

In a separate goodwill message, Etiaba joined millions of Nigerians in celebrating former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, on the occasion of his 65th birthday.

She described Obi’s 65th birthday as a remarkable milestone that reflects a lifetime of purposeful service, integrity, discipline and dedication to national development.
