Edo South constituents move to recall Senator Imasuen over alleged corruption and role in Senator Natasha’s case
Some constituents in Edo South Senatorial District have given the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Senate, and anti-graft agencies a 14-day ultimatum to act on a petition seeking to recall Senator Neda Imasuen.
The Labour Party (LP) lawmaker is accused of failure, corruption, abuse of office, and distancing himself from his constituents. He also faces allegations of past misconduct, including disbarment by the New York Supreme Court in 2010 for fraud and misappropriation of client funds.
At a press briefing in Benin City, representatives from five local governments stressed the need for accountable leadership. “We have created a platform to raise awareness and recall failed legislators in Edo South.
Silence gives consent. As Dante said, ’The hottest places in hell are reserved for those who, in a period of moral crisis, maintain their neutrality,’” they stated.

Imasuen, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions, is also at the center of the controversy surrounding a sexual harassment petition filed by suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Akpoti-Uduaghan has filed a petition with the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee seeking to disbar Imasuen from the Nigerian Bar, alleging he concealed his U.S. disbarment when contesting for office.
Her legal action follows her Senate suspension, which she claims Imasuen orchestrated in defiance of a court order. Despite a March 4 ruling restraining the Senate Ethics Committee from investigating her, Imasuen allegedly proceeded, leading to her suspension on March 6.
She accuses him of contempt of court and procedural bias, highlighting that he dismissed her sexual harassment complaint against Akpabio while actively pushing for disciplinary action against her.
