EFCC arrests 66 suspected internet fraudsters in Ogun, Lagos
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 66 suspected internet fraudsters in a sting operation in Ogun and Lagos States.
The Head of Media of the EFCC, Dele Oyewale, in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja, indicated that 55 of the suspects were arrested at K Hotel in Itori, Ewekoro area of Ogun on Wednesday, while 11 were arrested on Thursday at Tulip Haven, Chevron, Lekki, Lagos State.
He said that arrest of the suspects was sequel to credible and actionable intelligence available to the commission regarding their suspected fraudulent internet activities.
The commission’s head of media said that items recovered from the suspects in Ogun included six exotic cars, two locally- made pistols, one motorcycle, several mobile phones and laptops, incriminating documents, 89 unclaimed phones among others.
Oyewale also said that that the commission recovered one Range Rover, three Mercedes‑Benz vehicles, two Lexus vehicles, one Toyota vehicle from the 11 suspects arrested in Lagos.
Also recovered were 15 iPhones, two Android phones, one Nokia torch phone, one Macbook.
Oyewale said that all the suspects had given useful information to the commission and would be charged to court soon.(NAN)
