El-Rufai decries killing of 387 persons in 2 LGAs in 2 years by gunmen
Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has decried that over 387 people have been killed in Zangon Kataf and Kauru Local Government Areas (LGAs), Kaduna State, by gunmen in the last two years. The governor lamented the unhealthy perennial attacks and counter-attacks which have been worsening the security situation of the two local governments which also resulted in over 100 people being injured, in addition to displacing of residents. Much of the violence were traced to the rivalries between the Fulani, denoted at settlers, and Atyap indigenes, identified as the natives and owners of the land. The violent confrontations have persisted overtime, causing serious destruction and uncertainty of life.
The governor called for peace and understanding among the people.
