Elumelu hails ex-Delta governor, Ibori as courageous statesman, champion of resource control
The immediate past Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, OON, has paid glowing tribute to former Delta State Governor, Chief James Ibori, on the occasion of his 67th birthday anniversary, describing him as a courageous and accomplished statesman whose legacy continues to shape governance in Delta State and the Niger Delta region.
In a congratulatory message issued on Monday, Elumelu praised Chief Ibori’s role in the advancement of resource control, regional development, and national stability.
He said the former governor’s advocacy for greater fiscal autonomy for the Niger Delta led to unprecedented socio-economic development, particularly during his tenure as Governor of Delta State between 1999 and 2007.
“Chief James Ibori is a great leader with tremendous courage, who played and continues to play key roles in the growth, stability, and economic development of not only Delta State but also the Niger Delta Region and Nigeria as a whole,” Elumelu said.
