Enugu Rangers crash out of CAF Confederation Cup
There will be no Nigerian club in the knockout rounds of both the CAF Champions League as well as the Confederation Cup after Enugu Rangers crashed out of the second-tier continental club competition today in front of their own fans, National Daily learnt.
Rangers fell 1-0 to CS Sfaxien of Tunisia, who who won the group to join fellow Tunisians Etoile du Sahel in the quarterfinal of the Confederation Cup.
A 73rd minute goal by Nadhir Korichi gave CS Sfaxien victory in Enugu today, while Etoile pipped Salitas of Burkina Faso 1-0 at home in the other Group B tie.
National Daily gathered that Rangers thus finished third in Group B with five points.
Yesterday’s Nigeria’s representatives in the Champions League Lobi Stars also exited the competition despite beating ASEC Mimosas of Cote d’Ivoire 2-0 in Enugu.
