Europe dashes Ukraine’s hope of joining bloc
Ukraine’s bid to join the EU would not be finalised for the next “15 or 20 years,” France’s Europe minister has said.
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been upbeat about the possibilities of joining the bloc as part of the effort to secure hs country against Russia’s aggression in the long run.
The hopes of quick entry are now dashed.
“We have to be honest. If you say Ukraine is going to join the EU in six months, or a year or two, you’re lying,” Clement Beaune told Radio J.
“It’s probably in 15 or 20 years, it takes a long time.
The discouraging ews is coming after the possibilities of kraine joining NATO has also been pushed far into the future.
