Feb 16: INEC headquarters in confusion, meet foreign observers, stakeholders

There likelihood of postponing the Feb 16 Presidential and National Assembly election as is getting stronger as the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, is currently meeting with stakeholders, including international and local observers.

Sources close to the commission revealed commission is discussing the possibility of shifting the date of the election over logistics problems.

There were series of fires at INEC office around the nation in the run-up to the election, Thousands of card readers and other material were destroyed in Awka and Jis for instnace.
Ballot paper in the northeast are also said to be missing.
These challenges might be difficult for the election management body to deal with in real time.
