Four women drown in River Benue boat accident
A tragic boat accident in the River Benue has claimed the lives of four women in the Mayo Ranewo area of Taraba State.
The incident occurred this afternoon when a boat carrying over 30 passengers capsized while traveling from Mayo Ranewo to Belango.
According to eyewitnesses, the majority of the passengers survived the accident, but unfortunately, four women were unable to be saved.
The incident has left the local community in mourning, with many expressing deep sorrow over the loss of life.
This is not the first time a boat accident has occurred in the River Benue.
In October 2023, over 50 people drowned in a similar incident.

Following that tragedy, Governor Agbu Kefas vowed to implement stricter safety measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.
The Taraba State Police Command has confirmed the incident and is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the boat accident.
