Fresh strike looms as ASUU summons emergency NEC meeting
There are indications that lecturers under the aegis of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) may embark on fresh strike following half salary payment from the federal government.
Already, ASUU leadership has summoned an emergency National Executive Council (NEC) meeting and lecturers are on their way to Abuja.
The emergency NEC meeting was conveyed to discuss the payment of 18 days as salary for October to lecturers in federal universities.
The Federal Government on Thursday paid university lecturers half salary for October while remaining an outstanding of seven months, which it has refused to pay.
The payment of half salary to university lecturers is currently generating ripples on various campuses.
The University lecturers just returned to school barely three weeks ago.
