Ganduje welcomes Oborevwori to APC, says “You are a progressive governor”

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, on Monday, welcomed Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State to the APC.

Receiving Oborevwori, who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ganduje declared: “You are a progressive governor.

“This occasion today is a historic one. It is a political legacy laid by the governor of Delta State Sheriff Oborevwori.”

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, welcoming Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori to the All Progressives Congress (APC), called for continued support from the people.

Uzodinma, celebrating Oborevwori’s defection, declared: “I’m not surprised that the Governor in his wisdom decided to join our great party because what we are known for is what he’s already doing in Delta State.”

Governor Oborevwori and former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa had said that they defected to APC in Delta people’s Interest. They expressed that the state has been in opposition in the past 10 years and needs to connect to the federal government in the build up to the 2027 general elections.

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, celebrated that the defection of Oborevwori from the PDP has finally made Delta an APC state.

According to Keyamu @fkeyamo “Today is the day the Lord has made in Delta State.

“Finally, Delta is APC!

“Thank you, Mr. President, for your leadership that has attracted the best to our Party.

“Thank you, my leader & Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori for your foresight and courage in taking this bold decision.”

Governor Oborevwori said that his defection, together with his cabinet and other stakeholders from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), is “a movement” rather than a mere political shift.

According to him, “What you have seen here, today, is a movement, not a defection.

“We have consulted stakeholders at all levels.

“Mr. President has shown us love. We cannot face him in 2027 to work against him…

“When you consult widely, you can see that the love is organic.”

The governor added: “all our members in the Delta State House of Assembly have agreed to defect.

“The state exco, council chairmen, counselors, LG chairmen, and others are all moving to the APC.”
