Gov Yusuf Abba swears in first female Chief Judge in Kano
Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State, at Africa House, Government House, Kano, on Monday, sworn Justice Dije Audu Aboki into office as the first female Chief Judge of the state.
Governor Yusuf enjoined the judiciary to support the effort of his administration to demolish illegal structures and recover public assets acquired through unlawful means by the previous administration.
Governor Yusuf solicited for cooperation between the three branches of government in the state. According to the Governor, “the relationship between the judiciary, legislature, and executive is not competitive, but complementary.”
He assured of his commitment to maintaining cordial relations among the arms of government.
Governor Yusuf commended Justice Aboki’s dedication to the legal profession, noting, “Justice Aboki has paid her dues in the temple of justice and through experience, talent, and patriotism is by the grace of God elevated as the Chief Judge of the state”.
The Governor highlighted the need to address violent crimes promptly, stating, “It is our view that when such cases are dealt with expeditiously and those found guilty are punished, it will deter others hoping to engage in criminal acts”.
Chief Judge Justice Aboki thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve and pledged to uphold integrity, honesty, and justice.
The new Chief Judge promised to restore the judiciary’s prestige. She disclosed her determination to restore the lost glory of the judiciary in Kano State, seeking the support and collaboration of the executive, legislative, and judicial arms of government, including professional bodies for good governance of the state towards promoting gender diversity and strengthening the rule of law.
