Group faults Eti-Osa APC candidate’s record alleges age inconsistencies
A political advocacy group, Eti-Osa Collective, has called the attention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to what it described as “apparent inconsistencies” in the official records of its chairmanship candidate for Eti-Osa Local Government, Mr. Shamsideen Agunbiade, ahead of the July 12, 2025, local government elections.
In a statement signed by the group’s Secretary-General, Opeyemi Onifade, the group urged the APC to review the candidate’s documentation to avoid any post-election controversy or possible disqualification due to inaccuracies.
The statement referenced differences in age declarations allegedly made by Agunbiade in past election cycles.

“The group claimed that documents from 2004 to 2007 indicated he was 33 years old while contesting as a councillor for Ward E, and 46 during his tenure as Vice Chairman and Supervisor for Environment from 2017 to 2021. They allege that recent disclosures from the APC Secretariat list his current age as 49.
“These reported discrepancies raise important questions and could cast doubt on the credibility of the electoral process if not thoroughly examined,” the statement read.
The group also urged the party to verify all credentials submitted by the candidate, noting that questions raised about educational documents—including a Lagos State University (LASU) certificate—should be properly investigated.
While no official response has been issued by the APC or Mr. Agunbiade as of the time of this report, the group maintained that transparency is essential to upholding public trust.
