Helicopter launches aerial attack on passenger boat in Rivers
A helicopter on Thursday night launched an aerial attack on a passenger boat sailing on the Port Harcourt – Bonny waterways in Rivers State. The attackers in the flying helicopter had shot at the floating passenger boat, injuring some passengers while one victim was said to be in critical condition.
The wooden passenger boat was said to be conveying traders and their goods to Bonny from Port Harcourt when the attackers launched the aerial attack from the helicopter.
It was gathered that the helicopter may have been on surveillance on the waterways, while the occupants were perceived to have suspected that the boat may be conveying illicit refined petroleum products. The illicit trade was said to be common practice in the zone.
