House of Reps: Group commends APC adoption of option A4 model, Affirms Oshinowo’s Emergence

The Joint Action for Good Governance (JAGG) has described the choice of option A4 voting model, adopted by the All Progressives Congress in its primaries as an attempt to boost internal democratic practices within the party.

JAGG made this assertion in its congratulatory message to the former chairman Agboyi Ketu LCDA Mayor Dele Oshinowo, who emerged as the party’s candidate for the Kosofe federal constituency at the primaries held on Saturday.

The group commended the APC for adopting the Option A4 voting model, which promotes transparency through open alignment, the group acknowledged the effort to sustain internal democratic practices within the party.

According to the announcement made by the returning officer Mr Gabriel Olusesan Dada, four aspirants contested the primary election namely Mayor Dele Oshinowo who polled 18,614 votes, Chief Mrs Yetunde Arobieke who polled 7,389 votes, Mrs. Remi Odunsi with 5,726 votes and the incumbent House of Representatives member Hon. Kafilat Ogbara who polled 5,450 votes.

Therefore Oshinowo having polled the highest vote emerges as the party’s candidate for Kosofe House of Representatives in the coming general elections.

In a statement jointly signed by its National Vice President, Comrade Abdulwaheed Odunuga, and National Secretary, Adekunle Aderibigbe, JAGG described the outcome of the primaries as a reflection of the collective will and confidence of party delegates, noting that Oshinowo’s emergence aligns with the aspirations of the grassroots and broader constituency.

The organisation emphasised that its position is rooted in its long-standing commitment to promoting good governance, accountability, and credible leadership rather than partisan considerations.

“Mayor Dele Oshinowo’s emergence can be seen as a validation of his antecedents in public service, particularly his record of grassroots development, inclusive governance, and responsiveness to citizens’ needs during his tenure as Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA.

“These are critical indicators of leadership capacity in a representative democracy.”

JAGG further expressed confidence in Oshinowo’s ability to deliver effective representation if elected, citing his administrative experience, community engagement model, and demonstrated commitment to people-centred policies.

The group however, called for improved operational preparedness and stricter adherence to fairness standards owing to reports garnered from members who observed the process.

“To strengthen public trust and the integrity of party processes, there is a clear need for better planning, clearer procedural guidelines, and safeguards that ensure equity for all aspirants.

“Electoral credibility must not only be upheld but must be seen to be upheld”.

The organisation reiterated that credible internal party processes are fundamental to deepening Nigeria’s democratic culture and ensuring that electoral outcomes genuinely reflect the will of the people.

The Organization also extend their appreciation to the people of Kosofe who stood patiently under a scorching sun to see the process through.

“Your discipline and commitment to democracy did not go unnoticed. It is that same resolve that produced a clear and decisive result.”

JAGG concluded by urging all stakeholders, political parties, aspirants, and electoral actors to prioritise transparency, fairness, and accountability in future exercises, noting that these principles remain essential to sustainable governance and public confidence.
