How I became 12% poorer in the last four years — Oyo Gov. Makinde
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has declared that he is poorer by 10 to 12% in the last 4 years as governor of the state.
Speaking with newsmen on Sunday, May 28, Makinde said the reason for the loss was due to his inability to manage and focus on his personal businesses as a result of his running the state.
According to him, “Statutorily, you have to declare your assets on assumption of office and at the end of your tenure.
Since one tenure is ending and by law I have to do the declaration of assets before assuming office for the next tenure. So, I came here to submit my end of tenure form for the first term, asset declaration and also to declare my assets at the beginning of the second tenure.
I believe that you are all aware of my declaration for the first tenure. I can tell you that in four years, I am poorer. I am serious because I have not really had the time to look after my business, I have been looking after Oyo State business.
