Husband, Wife arraigned for N120M fraud in Lagos
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Wednesday, arraigned a man, Austine Chidiebere, and his wife Juliet Ezeama , before Justice O. H. Oshodi of the Lagos State High Court Ikeja on a seven-count charge of conspiracy and obtaining money by false pretence, a statement said.
The EFCC said the couple and a company, Mabrubeni Nigeria Limited, “on or about the 6th day of May, 2015 … obtained the sum of $30,570 (Thirty Thousand Five Hundred and Seventy US Dollars) from CIFERCOM LLC under the false pretence that the money was to register the company in Nigeria preparatory to the award of $8 million (Eight million US Dollars) contract to it by the Nigerian government.
The couple pleaded not guilty to the charges, following which Justice Oshodi ordered their remand in EFCC custody.
The matter was adjourned till 21st November, 2016 for hearing on the defendants bail application.
