I coined the name ‘APC’ for our party, Okorocha claims
The former governor of Imo State, Chief Rochas Okorocha, has claimed that he coined the name of Nigeria’s ruling political party. Okorocha explained how the party’s flag was designed to represent the founding political parties during his recent interview on TVC News.
You may recall that APC got established by a coalition of political parties to unseat the ruling political party at the time. However, recent developments regarding APC’s leadership and upcoming National Convention has made Chief Okorocha recall how APC got founded.
Speaking about APC’s formation, Chief Okorocha said, “Truthfully, we have completely lost the original idea and concept that brought us together as a family and made us defeat PDP in 2015. We operated as a family at the time, and we did not struggle to control the party structures. We were concerned about defeating our opponent. The CPC, APGA, ANPP, and ACN came together to form the APC. We had our way of resolving issues. I coined the name ‘APC’, and the red line on our APC flag represents APGA, the broom represents ACN, CPC and ANPP also contributed to the flag.”
