I won’t work against Ortom’s senatorial election despite endorsing Obi – Ayu
The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Iyorchia Ayu, at a media briefing at his Makurdi residence on Thursday, said that he will not work against Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State who is contesting for the senatorial election in Benue North-West Senatorial District on Saturday for endorsing the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi. Ayu insisted that he will not work against Ortom “because he is a candidate of the PDP.”
Ayu told Nigerian voters to reflect on the hardship of the past eight years, including the intractable insecurity, poverty and economic failures of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), as they go to the polling units on Saturday. The PDP National Chairman affirmed voting for the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, will quickly change the fortunes of the country.
Ayu told voters to consider the survival of Nigeria, saying that Nigerians need the PDP to come to the rescue of the country.
The three PDP senators, representing Benue at the National Assembly, Gabriel Suswam, Emmanuel Oker-Jev and Abba Moro, endorsed Atiku, while dissociating themselves from Ortom’s endorsement of Peter Obi.
Ortom is among that five PDP governros, who include Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, protesting the emergence of Atiku Abubakar as PDP presidential candidate, and demanding the resignation of Ayu as National chairman.
