Senator Nora Dadu’ut, APC Plateau South, has said equipping the youths with skills on Information Communication Technology (ICT), will drastically reduce the number of unemployed youths in the country.
Dadu’ut said ICT being the new world economic destination permeates all aspects of life which Nigerian youths must take advantage of to make global impact.
The Senator stated this Monday, in Shandam Local Government Area of the State during inauguration of some of her constituency projects.
Speaking to over 20 unemployed graduates drawn from different LGs of Plateau South, undergoing ICT training under her skills acquisition programme, the lawmaker tasks them to take advantage of the opportunity to launch out to the world.
Equipping them with laptops, after a period of 5-days training, she said the gesture will help them to interact and network in the growing world of ICT.
According to her “ICT permeates all aspects of life, providing newer, better, and quicker ways for people to interact, network, seek help, gain access to information, and learn. Besides its presence everywhere, Information and Communication Technology has an immense economic significance”, she said.
However, inaugurating some of her projects, Dadu’ut said she places education high premium in her scale of preference, adding that education impacts positively on the younger generation.
“As you can see, I started today by inaugurating some blocks of classrooms for the young ones because we need to invest in them. They are our future and leaders of tomorrow.
“My love for education is a burning desire and that is why I want to give the youths quality education in a conducive environment”, she said.
Our correspondent reports that the projects commissioned by the lawmaker at her senatorial district includes bocks of classrooms at Government Secondary School Lardang, a primary school in Vutu village in Quanpan LGA, a motorized hand borehole at Government Secondary School in Mikang, modern toilet facilities and solar panel streets light in Shendam, Mikang and Quanpan LGAs.
