At the event, Anugbum Onuoha, INEC’s resident electoral commissioner (REC) in Edo, presented the voter register to the chairmen and secretaries of political parties.
This presentation is in compliance with the Electoral Act, which requires INEC to provide the voter register to political parties 30 days before the election.
Onuoha also handed a copy of the register to Olumide Akpata, the Labour Party (LP) candidate. Due to a leadership dispute within the party, Akpata was recognized as the sole candidate for the election.
