Insecurity: Bandits kidnap many in fresh attack in Katsina
Bandits launch fresh attack on a community, Ruwan Godiya, in Faskari Local Government Area, Katsina State, kidnapping many people in the operation.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Katsina State Police Command, SP Gambo Isah, on Tuesday acknowledged the incident, but could not ascertain the figure of victims kidnapped by the bandits, or other casualties.
The bandits, armed with sophisticated weapons, were said to have invaded the community with 60 motorcycles on Sunday, shooting sporadically to clear their way, undermining the military personnel deployed to protect the community.
The locals were also not certain about the figure of the victims or other casualties , while some mention 50, others say 38.
Before the incident, bandits had killed over 12 persons when the terrorists confronted repentant bandits in Illela community, Safana Local Government Area, Katsina State.
There have been various killings by bandits, which compelled Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State to order residents of Katsina State to acquire arms and defe3nd themselves.
There are several unreported invasions and killings in most states of the northwest.
