Islamic cleric bombs Buhari over rising insecurity

The of Imam of Apo Legislative Quarters Mosque, Sheikh Muhammad Nuru Khalid, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of incompetence, saying that he has disappointed Nigerians over his administration inability to tackle insecurity in the country.

The Imam in a viral video monitored by National Daily said under the Buhari-led administration, many Nigerians have been killed like chickens, and yet the President has no solutions to the safety of lives and properties of Nigerians.

The cleric while addressing worshippers during his Friday sermon, said Buhari must ensure that he ended the menace before leaving power.

“Go and tell the President that under his government some groups of people are issuing threats to local communities, demanding that they should be paid some amounts of money or face attack.

“Let me tell you, Mr. President, under your watch, bandits are demanding tax from Nigerians. Is that the provision of the Constitution of Nigeria? Under the provision of the constitution of Nigeria, no one has the right to tax except the federal government or any other constituted authorities.

“I may not be a learned man, but I’m not a layman either. I’m telling you, Mr President, you’re to take responsibility for all this nonsense going on in the country because people voted for you thinking you have the solutions to the problems. You promised them that during your campaign.

According to the courageous Imam, people are dying every day, “who do you think should take responsibility for these failures, President of Ghana or that of America?

“We have that right to ask questions, and denying us that right is undemocratic. We are not under military rule. This is a democracy, we voted for you to provide security for us. You promised us in 2015 that our military is capable of defeating Boko Harams and Bandits, but under you they have become more daring and ruthless.”

“The president should either return the country as one nation where bandits are not killing people anyhow — just the way he took over, or Allah (God) will deal with him.

“This is the message. I’m saying this in an open forum, and it is live-streamed for the world to see. I take responsibility for my words, and I’m ready to face whatever consequences for preaching peace and unity of Nigeria.

“We have a video in which you said Nigerian soldiers had the patriotism, training, and discipline to tackle all manner of criminality in the country. You said if you were elected, you would give them the required support to tackle insurgency in a short time.

The Cleric also disclosed that politicians, including senators and governors have failed Nigerians completely, charging parents and guardians to train their children and wards to avoid criminality and other vices.
