Jakande was a nationalist, a political icon, champion of social justice – Gov Bala Mohammed
Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State of Friday conveyed his condolence message to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State on the death of the first Executive Governor of the state, Alhaji Lateef Jakande, who died on Thursday at the age 91 years.
Governor Mohammed in the condolence letter by the Special Assistant on Media, Mukhtar Gidado, declared that “Jakande was a nationalist, a political icon, and an acclaimed champion of social justice.”
The governor said that the death of Lateef Kayode Akande is a monumental loss to Nigeria and the media industry.
Governor Mohammed, accordingly, conveyed the deepest condolences of the government and people of Bauchi State on the demise of the veteran journalist to the Lagos State government.
Governor Bala Mohammed noted that the sterling leadership qualities late Jakande will forever remain in the hearts of the people. He prayed that the Almighty Allah would bless him with Aljanna Firdaus.
The late Lagos Governor was buried on Friday in Lagos.
