Amid reports that popular Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele Bello has clinched the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Lagos State Deputy Governorship ticket, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Joe Igbokwe, has come out to air his opinion on the development.
In case you are yet to know, on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, news filtered into the country’s media space that Nollywood powerhouse, Funke Akindele-Bello has kicked off her foray into the politics in grand style by emerging as the top opposition party’s deputy governorship candidate in the Southwest state of Lagos.
According to reports from several media outlets, Akindele-Bello was picked from a list of names that had been nominated for the position of running mate to the PDP’s governorship candidate, Alhaji Abdulaziz Olajide Adediran, popularly known to his followers as ‘Jandor’.
As expected, Funke Akindele-Bello’s emergence has sparked off a chain of reactions online as many prominent Nigerians rushed to their social media handles to either congratulate or criticize her latest venture. Quite interestingly, Joe Igbokwe happens to be among the few who are criticizing the move.
While sharing a campaign poster of Jandor and Akindele-Bello on his Facebook page some minutes ago, the APC chieftain insisted that contesting the governorship position of Lagos State is a serious venture that shouldn’t be joked around with.
