Katsina State Govt to enact law on mandatory genotype tests- Official
The Katsina State Government is to enact a law that mandates intending couples to go for genotype tests.
The Acting Secretary to the Katsina State Government (SSG), Alhaji Muntari Lawal, made this known when he received the members of People Living With Sickle Cell on a courtesy visit in his office on Thursday in Katsina.
“There is need to sensitise the public through enlightenment campaign in all nooks and corners of the state about the disease,” he said.
The SSG urged medical researchers to conduct more research on getting a cure for sickle cell.
He said the state government will also mobilise traditional and religious leaders towards the campaign.
Earlier, the President of Association of “Sickle Cell Home”, Katsina Chapter, Hajiya Laila Ahmed Rufa’i said that, they were at the office of the SSG to socit the support of the state government on campaign for prevention against sickle cell disease which is very rampant in the country.
