kidnappers of a Briton killed in Delta nabbed
The kidnappers of the British volunteer who shot dead in Delta State Dr. Ian Squire, have been arrested.
Also, one of the kidnappers was shot dead during a crossfire with operatives of the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team.
Squire and three others were kidnapped on October 13, 2017.
While others were freed, Squire was killed.
National Daily learnt that two of the gang members were first arrested by the operatives of the IRT, led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Abba Kyari, in Warri, Delta State.
They then volunteered to lead the police to Sapele, also in Delta State, where the other members of the gang were hidding.
One of the kidnappers, on sighting their gang members arrested by IRT Operatives, suddenly brought out a Barrette Pistol and shot one Sergeant Sanusi Lanre in the stomach and Sergeant Agunbiade Adebayo on his two hands.
In the shoot out that ensued, one of the kidnappers was hit by stray bullet. His corpse was later recovered and deposited at the mortuary of the Delta State University Teaching Hospital.
