Mr Abdullahi Sabo, the Chairman of Kuje Area Council, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has assured the youth of his support, especially toward developing the much-needed capacity for sports development in the area.
Sabo gave the assurance during the inauguration of the Chairman’s Football Tournament, titled “Hardri Football Competition” at the Kuje Township Stadium on Thursday.
Sabo, represented by the Council Legislative Speaker, Mr Ibrahim Aminu, said that he was glad that the youth could come together in a football competition for the unity of all tribes in the area.
He observed that such efforts gave him confidence that the future would be better adding that young people, who were diligent and committed especially in sports, would foster peaceful co-existence in the area.
“It is heart-warming that you have not just come together in unity as one would expect, but you also made it a point of duty to develop yourselves through football.
“I encourage you not to relent in these efforts regardless of the challenges that you face.
“Be rest assured that you will reap the reward of coming together for unity and progress of the area council.
“I will do my best possible to ensure that the youth are adequately engaged through capacity building and sports development in the area,” he assured.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Young FC defeated Golden Stars, 1- 0, in the first match of the Hardri Football competition at the Kuje Township Stadium.
NAN also reports that Gaube United FC will lock horns with Kayarda Eagles on Friday at the Kuje Township Stadium.
Coach Haruna Idris, the Chairman organising committee of the competition, commended the teams for their fair play in the match and encouraged them to be serious throughout the competition.
