Kwara Gov inspects multistorey hospital, highlights people-centred Devt
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State on Sunday inspected the ongoing construction of the multi-storey Oluremi Tinubu Hospital in Ilorin, describing it as part of his administration’s broad investment in health, education, roads, and social infrastructure.
The inspection came just days after the governor approved an additional ₦20 billion for public school infrastructure projects across the state.
Speaking to reporters at the site, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary Rafiu Ajakaye, Governor AbdulRazaq stated that the Oluremi Tinubu Hospital was one of several high-impact projects being executed to improve the welfare of residents.
Last week, the governor also inspected multiple rural road projects in Asa Local Government Area, including the 23.23km Oko Olowo Express–Sokoto–Tafatafa–Elere–Owode Oja Baba Kudu–Akopari–Otte Oja Road and the 17.7km Madi Peeke Road.
“We have constructed many roads within and outside Ilorin, and many others are ongoing,” he said, adding that other states such as Lagos and Kaduna were also delivering large-scale infrastructure projects, particularly in healthcare.
He attributed the surge in capital projects across the federation to increased federal allocations following the removal of fuel subsidy, and commended President Bola Tinubu for supporting Kwara’s development drive.
“The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, laid the foundation for this hospital six months ago, and work has progressed tremendously. We expect completion in the second quarter of next year. Most of the equipment, including radiography machines, CT scanners, MRI, and PET scan units, have already been ordered,” he stated.
The governor also listed other major projects underway across the state, such as the International Conference Centre, ICT Centre in Shonga, Patigi Regatta Motel, Shea Butter Factory in Kaiama, and the rehabilitation of Ibrahim Taiwo Road in Offa.
AbdulRazaq noted that while road construction is the most visible form of development to the public, his administration is also making significant investments in education, agriculture, and other sectors.
“In Kwara South, we have completed the Oro–Arandun Road, the Omu-Aran–Oko Road, and the Orisa Bridge along Oro-Ago. Work is ongoing on the Ajase-Ipo–Oke Ode Road in phases, and on the Owu Waterfall access road. We are also set to commence the Ilemona bypass, among others,” he said.
