LASTMA picks up wandering child fleeing home over maltreatment
Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority while conducting their duties picked up an underage girl found loitering around Jibowu under the bridge.
A press release issued on Monday, the Director of the Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA, Adebayo Taofiq, disclosed that the young girl was found sitting alone under the Jibowu bridge at approximately 7:20 a.m.
Upon questioning, the girl identified herself as Kemisola Christy and shared that she had fled her home due to mistreatment by her guardian, who resides at 72, Glover Street, Ebute Metta.
Christy went on to explain that her decision to run away stemmed from fear, as her guardian had threatened to sever her hands as a punishment for allegedly stealing N100 from the money kept inside her purse.
Subsequently, she was handed over to the police officers stationed at the Alakara Police Station for further investigation.
