Lekki businessman, two others arrested for allegedly importing illicit drugs
Operatives of NDLEA have arrested a Lekki businessman, identified as Cyril Chidiebere, for allegedly importing 12 parcels of illegal Cargo containing illicit drugs from the USA.
It was gathered that the suspect was arrested on Friday, April 14, alongside two of his freight agents — Mejabi Peter Sunday & Oyeyinka Babatunde — over their collaboration in the importation of 12 parcels of Loud, a strain of cannabis, weighing 6.50kg which was part of a consolidated cargo brought in from the U.S.
The agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babfemi, in a statement on Sunday, April 16, said that the arrest came after a 3 day intelligence led operation.
“Monitoring the arrival of the cargo at the NAHCO import shed of the MMIA, its movement out of the airport was closely watched in a sting operation until the actual Chidiebere, the importer was arrested in his house at Abraham Adesanya estate, Ajah, Lekki, Lagos.
