After seeing Neymar leave Barcelona for £200m in the summer, the Spanish giants are keen to up the release clause to put off any rivals bidding for him
Real Madrid are set to hand Marco Asensio a new deal with a world-record £442m release clause, according to reports.
Asensio has become one of Real’s most highly-rated players after breaking into Zinedine Zidane’s team and scoring four goals so far this term.
National Daily are now reporting that Real chiefs are keen to to tie down Asensio to a new deal until 2023.
The report claims the release clause on the contract would be £442m which is there to deter any bids from rivals.
Real are worried after Barcelona saw Neymar move for a world-record £198m after Paris Saint-Germain activated his release clause.
And the Champions League holders have been busy giving their top stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Toni Kroos, Lucas Vasquez and Luka Modric fresh terms.
Asensio’s deal is expected to be announced after Real’s clash with Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday.
Marcelo, Isco, Dani Carvajal, Karim Benzema and Marcos Llorente have also signed new contracts showing Real’s desire to keep hold of their squad.
