Man, 30, docked over alleged N1.8m fraud
The Police on Wednesday, arraigned a 30- year-old man, Israel Makinde before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, over an alleged N1.8 million fraud.
Makinde whose residential address was not provided, was charged with obtaining money under false pretense and theft.
The Prosecutor, Philip Amusan, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence between November and December 2023, at Mokola area, Ibadan.
Amusan alleged that Makinde obtained the N1.8 million from one Peter Ahonkhai, with the intent to defraud him.
The prosecutor explained that Makinde obtained the money from Ahonkhai under the pretense of branding some pace setter buses for advertisement, which he (Makinde) never intended to do.

He said the offence contravened Sections 419 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Olaolu Olanipekun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200, 000 and two sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the case till April 23 for hearing.
