Man, 39, docked for alleged N560,000 theft
A 39-year-old man, Utomi Luke, was arraigned before an Asaba Magistrates’ Court on Thursday for allegedly stealing N560,000 from a Point Of Sale (POS) operator. He pleaded not guilty and was granted bail.
A 39-year-old man, Utomi Luke, appeared before a Magistrates’ Court in Asaba on Thursday, charged with the theft of N560,000 from a Point Of Sale (POS) operator, Mr. Michael Odume.
According to the prosecution, the incident occurred on March 21, 2025, at No. 9 Okpanam Road, Asaba.
The Police Prosecutor, ASP Selebo Isaac, told the court that Luke allegedly stole the sum from the complainant in violation of Section 390(9) of the Criminal Law of Delta State, 2006.
Utomi Luke, whose home address was not disclosed, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Edith Anumodu, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and provide valid means of identification.
The case was adjourned until April 29, 2025, for mention.
