Man docked for allegedly hitting neighbour with log of wood
A 32-year-old man, Stephen Francis, on Tuesday appeared in a Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly hitting his neighbour on the head with a log of wood.
The police charged Francis, who resides in Kabala West, Kaduna State with assault and causing grievous hurt.
The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Chidi Leo, told the court that James Precious, of the same address with the defendant, reported the matter at the Kabala Police station on Aug. 20.
Leo said that the defendant hit the complainant on his head with a log of wood during an altercation.
The prosecutor said as a result of this, the complainant sustained grievous injuries and is still on admission in the hospital.
Leo said that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 247 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law, 2017.
Magistrate Ibrahim Emmanuel admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum.
Emmanuel adjourned the matter until Sept. 14, for hearing.
