Maida highlights NCC’s commitment to protecting citizens’ data
Dr. Aminu Maida, Executive Vice-Chairman/CEO of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has highlighted the Commission’s commitment to protecting citizens’ data and ensuring compliance with regulatory directives.
Dr. Maida who disclosed this while speaking at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Legal Officers Workshop in Abuja, acknowledged the significant impact of NYSC members on the economy and communications industry.
“NCC is a stakeholder in the data protection of citizens in Nigeria to the extent that it mandates its licensees to protect the information of subscribers against accidental or improper disclosure.”
He encouraged legal officers to embrace emerging technologies for effective service delivery.

He emphasized the importance of capacity building and continuous training for legal officers to ensure effective compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Maida also commended NYSC for organizing the workshop, which will enhance the service delivery of its legal officers and contribute to the growth of the economy.
“This valuable contribution is also felt in the communications industry, and in the operations of the Commission as it carries out its mandate of the Nigerian communications industry.
According to Maida, NYSC also has played a vital role in fostering national unity by instilling values, such as service to community, oneness and brotherhood of every Nigerian citizen regardless of cultural, ethnic or social leanings.
The Director-General of NYSC, Brig-Gen. Y. Ahmed, also stressed the importance of continuous training and capacity building for legal officers in effective legal representation.
The Collaboration between NCC and NYSC is to promote national development and the growth of the telecommunications sector.
