Milan, Madrid in Icardi, Modric swap deal
Inter are reportedly back in for Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, while Real Madrid return fire with an approach for Mauro Icardi.
According to the Corriere dello Sport, Gazzetta dello Sport and FCInterNews, Modric has not given up hope of joining the Nerazzurri after a summer offer was angrily rejected.
The 2018 Ballon d’Or winner is only under contract until June 2020 and has expressed his frustration at Real Madrid this season.
His comments in the wake of a shock home defeat to Real Sociedad also fuelled speculation that he’ll push once again for a move to Inter.
It’s reported Modric has rejected the latest contract proposal from Real Madrid, worth €12m net per year, to take a slightly lower salary of €10m at San Siro.
He’s not the only one eager to move on from the Bernabeu, as Kroos is also on the Inter radar for next season.
In response, writes the Corriere dello Sport newspaper, Real Madrid President Florentino Perez is targeting Inter hitman Icardi as his next Galactico.
Icardi is dragging his heels over a new contract with the Nerazzurri and has a release clause worth €110m, although it can only be activated from July 1-15.
