Ministry of Environment not demolishing property, only removing contravening structures – Wahab
The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources in Lagos State, Tokunbo Wahab, on Monday clarified that the Ministry is not demolishing structures, in its clearance of shanties at the Adeniji Adele under-bridge in Lagos Island, but only removing contravening structures obstructing the free flow of rainwater which has over the years caused massive flooding in the State.
According to the Environment commissioner, @tokunbo_wahab
“We are not demolishing any property, the Ministry is only removing contravening structures obstructing the free flow of rainwater which has over the years caused massive flooding in Lagos State @followlasg as provided for in the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law 2017.
“This exercise will be done across as the ministry is putting so much effort into deflooding many areas.
“Please note “REMOVE” and then use it appropriately.”
