For having the boldness to steal a laptop valued at N45,000, a 35-year-old woman, Nafisat Raji, was on Wednesday convicted and sentenced to six months imprisonment in Osogbo, Osun State.
The convicted who stole the HP laptop had appeared before an Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court and pleaded guilty to the offence.
However, the counsel, Mr Najite Okobie, prayed the court to temper justice with mercy in sentencing the convict since she had pleaded guilty.
The Magistrate, Mrs Olubukola Olowolagba, who sentenced Raji, however, gave her the option to pay a fine of N3, 000.
National Daily gathered that the convict committed the offense on August 8, about 12:30p.m on Fayemi Street, in Osogbo.
It was further gathered that the laptop was the property of one Akindele Deborah and a mobile phone owned by one Olabopo Mubarak.
According to the prosecutor, Inspector Joshua, the offence contravened Sections 390(9) and is punishable under Section 383 and 412 of the Criminal Code cap 34 vol.11 Laws of Osun, 2003.
