National Daily reporter narrates ‘One Chance’ experience in Lagos
By Eric Patrick
Eric Patrick, a reporter with National Daily newspaper, has narrated his ordeal in the hands of ‘one chance’ robbers in Obalende area of Lagos penultimate Friday.
Patrick had boarded a bus right in front of the office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Ikoyi enroute Obalende around 2.pm
The bandits, who were also on board the vehicle, robbed him and one other commuter of their belongings, assaulting them in the process.
“They were four. One in front with the driver, while the other two were at the back seat”, he added.
“I and one other person, whose name is unknown, were the only passengers who boarded the vehicle.
“On our way to Obalende the bus driver diverted to a different direction heading to the third mainland bridge at that point I knew my life was in jeopardy”. They ordered me and the second person to give them money and handover our phones to them. Initially, I resisted but one of them hit my right eye and I was bleeding. It was at that point I handed over everything I had to them just to avoid further harm.
“They kept demanding for more items. I told them I had nothing left with me, they said I should bring out my ATM card which I said is not with me.
“After collecting everything I had and leaving one of my eyes bleeding, they dropped us on the third mainland bridge where we could no longer seek for immediate help.
